Donation amounts and recurring options are key parts of every campaign’s fundraising strategy.
They determine how donors interact with your forms and how frequently contributions are made.
In GiveWP, you can set multiple donation levels, allow custom amounts, and enable recurring donations (if the add-on is active).
The Faun WordPress Theme automatically styles all donation levels and buttons to match your site’s design.
Open the Form Builder #
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to GiveWP → Campaigns.
- Select the campaign you want to edit.
- Go to the Forms tab.
- Click the form you want to customize — this will open the Visual Donation Form Builder.
All donation amount settings are managed within the Donation Amount block of the form builder.
Set Donation Levels #
- Click the Donation Amount block inside the builder.
- Choose Set Donation Levels to create predefined amounts.
- Add as many levels as you want — for example:
- $10
- $25
- $50
- $100
- Optionally, write a short label beside each level to describe its impact (e.g., “Provides school supplies for one child”).
- Rearrange levels by dragging them into your preferred order.
- Set one level as Default so it’s preselected for donors.
Preset donation levels help guide donors toward meaningful contribution amounts and simplify the giving process.
Enable Custom Donation Amounts #
If you want donors to enter any amount freely:
- In the Donation Amount block, toggle Custom Amount to On.
- Define a Minimum Amount (for example, $5) to prevent empty or very small donations.
- (Optional) You can disable custom amounts if your campaign relies only on fixed levels.
Allowing custom donations gives supporters flexibility, especially for large or one-time contributions.
Enable Recurring Donations #
Recurring donations allow supporters to give automatically on a schedule, helping maintain long-term funding.
This option requires the GiveWP Recurring Donations add-on.
- In the Donation Amount block, locate the Recurring Donations section.
- Enable the toggle for Allow Recurring Donations.
- Choose which options to offer:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Yearly
- Custom intervals (if supported by your gateway)
- Optionally, select a Default Period (e.g., monthly) so it’s preselected for donors.
- Save changes to apply.
Recurring donations will automatically display as a checkbox or dropdown on your form, depending on your design and add-on settings.
Adjust Currency and Formatting #
- Go to GiveWP → Settings → General → Currency Settings.
- Choose your campaign’s currency (e.g., USD, EUR, GBP).
- Define number formatting (decimal separator, symbol position).
- Save your settings.
Faun inherits these settings globally to ensure consistency across your forms and progress bars.
Test Your Donation Levels #
Before publishing, always verify that your donation levels and recurring options function as expected.
- Preview the form using Preview Form at the top of the builder.
- Check that preset levels appear in the correct order.
- Confirm that custom amount input works properly.
- If recurring donations are enabled, test both one-time and recurring options.
- Use Test Mode in GiveWP → Settings → Payment Gateways to complete test transactions safely.
Best Practices #
- Offer 3–5 donation levels to provide clear choices without overwhelming donors.
- Highlight a “recommended” level by setting it as default.
- Include a custom amount option for flexibility.
- Add emotional or tangible labels to levels (e.g., “Feed a family for a week”).
- Promote recurring giving by emphasizing long-term impact.
- Regularly review donation data to see which levels perform best.
