How to Create a Donation Campaign

3 min read

Creating a donation campaign allows you to organize fundraising efforts, set clear goals, and engage your audience through a dedicated campaign page.

Faun includes full compatibility with GiveWP, which uses a campaign-based donation system instead of standalone forms. Each campaign contains its own donation form, goal tracking, and reporting tools.

Open the Campaigns Dashboard #

  1. In the WordPress admin area, go to GiveWP → Campaigns.
  2. Click Create Campaign.
  3. The Campaign Wizard will guide you through the setup process.
Every campaign includes its own form, landing page, and donation goal settings.

Add Campaign Details #

  1. Title – Enter a clear, meaningful name for your campaign (e.g., Help Build a School in Kenya).
  2. Description – Write a short summary that explains your cause and motivates donors.
  3. Cover Image – Upload a high-quality featured image (recommended size: 1600 × 900 px).
  4. Goal Type – Choose what you want to track:
    • Amount Raised (default)
    • Number of Donations
    • Number of Donors
    • (If the Recurring Donations add-on is active) recurring-specific goals such as Total Recurring Amount Raised.
  5. Click Continue to create your campaign.
The campaign will appear in your Campaigns list and will include one default donation form.

Edit the Donation Form #

  1. In the campaign view, open the Forms tab and click the generated form.
  2. This opens the Visual Donation Form Builder, where you can:
    • Add or remove form blocks (Donor Info, Amount, Payment Gateways, etc.).
    • Define fixed or custom donation amounts.
    • Enable recurring donations (if available).
    • Adjust confirmation messages and email notifications.
  3. Click Publish when the form is ready.

Customize the Campaign Page #

Each campaign automatically generates a Campaign Page that serves as a landing page for your cause.

  • To edit the layout, click Edit Campaign Page in the campaign view.
  • Use the WordPress Block Editor to add content blocks such as:
    • Campaign Title and Goal Progress
    • Donation Form
    • Images or Videos
    • Testimonials or Text Blocks
  • The Faun theme will automatically apply its typography, colors, and button styles to this page.
  • You can leave this page published, save it as a draft, or replace it with a custom layout if desired.

Display the Campaign on Your Site #

You can feature donation campaigns anywhere on your Faun-powered website:

  • Use the Campaign Page – Link it directly in your menu or from a “Donate Now” button.
  • Embed the Donation Form – Add the form to any page or post using the shortcode: [give_form id="FORM_ID"] Replace FORM_ID with the actual form ID.
  • Elementor Integration – Insert the shortcode in a Faun Elementor section or use a text/shortcode widget.
  • Homepage Highlight – Use Faun’s pre-built “Campaign Grid” or “Featured Campaign” sections to showcase active campaigns.

Publish and Test #

  1. Set the campaign’s Status to Active and click Publish.
  2. Visit the campaign page on the front end to confirm layout and payment flow.
  3. Test a donation using Test Mode in GiveWP → Settings → Payment Gateways before enabling live payments.

Monitor Donations and Performance #

  • Go to GiveWP → Reports to view total raised, donor count, and campaign-specific statistics.
  • Check GiveWP → Donors for detailed donor records and histories.
  • Campaign performance automatically updates on the campaign page and progress bars.

Tips and Best Practices #

  • Use short, emotionally engaging titles and clear calls-to-action.
  • Add authentic photos or videos that connect with your cause.
  • Encourage recurring donations for sustained support.
  • Keep goals realistic—visible progress increases conversions.
  • Duplicate successful campaigns to reuse structure and design.
