Instagram Feed Settings

Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting up and configuring the Instagram Feed Plugin for WordPress:

Step – 1 Install and Activate the Plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New.
  3. In the search bar, type Instagram Feed.
  4. Locate the plugin by Smash Balloon and click Install Now.
  5. After installation, click Activate.

Step – 2 Connect to Your Instagram Account

  1. In your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Instagram Feed in the sidebar menu.
  2. Click on the Settings tab.
  3. Press the Add Source or Connect an Instagram Account button.
  4. Choose your account type:
    • Personal Account for individual users.
    • Business Account for professional or business profiles.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize and connect your Instagram account.

Step – 3 Customize Your Feed

  1. Once connected, go to the Customize tab.
  2. Set your preferred layout:
    • Grid: Displays images in a grid format.
    • Carousel: Horizontal scrolling layout.
    • Masonry: Staggered layout with variable image sizes.
    • Highlight: Larger featured posts.
  3. Adjust the following settings:
    • Number of Posts: Specify how many images you want to display.
    • Columns: Choose how many columns the feed will use.
    • Image Resolution: Select the image quality (auto or manual).
    • Load More Button: Enable a button to load additional posts.

Step – 4 Style Your Feed

  1. Navigate to the Style tab.
  2. Customize:
    • Background Color: Set a background for your feed container.
    • Spacing: Adjust the spacing between images.
    • Text Color: Change the color of captions or hashtags if enabled.
  3. Choose font styles and button designs if applicable.

Step – 5 Set Advanced Display Options

  1. Go to the Advanced tab for additional controls:
    • Post Filtering: Show or hide posts with specific hashtags.
    • Moderation: Manually approve posts before they appear.
    • Image and Video Lightbox: Enable a pop-up view for media.
  2. For business accounts, use hashtag feeds or tagged post displays.

Step – 6 Display the Feed on Your Site

  1. Copy the shortcode provided in the Settings tab or plugin overview.
    • Example: [instagram-feed]
  2. Paste the shortcode into any post, page, or widget area where you want the feed to appear.
    • For Gutenberg: Use the Shortcode Block.
    • For Classic Editor: Paste directly into the content editor.
    • For Elementor: Use Shortcode Element.
