How to Duplicate a Page or Post

2 min read

Duplicating a page or post in WordPress website can mean more than simply copying and pasting the content. You can also retain the page template, meta fields, taxonomies, SEO data, and images, in order to save time when redesigning your website or updating your content.

There are many plugins for this, but the post or page duplicate plugin we recommend for you is Yoast Duplicate Post. In this article, we will tell you how to install and use it.

Step 1 – Login into your WordPress admin panel.

Step 2 – Navigate to the Plugins > Add New page from admin panel menu.

Step 3 – Search for ‘Yoast Duplicate Post’ from the search form.

Step 4 – Click the ‘Install Now’ button on the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin.

Step 5 – Wait for the plugin to installed.

Step 6 – Click the ‘Activate’ button.

Step 7 – Navigate to the Settings > Yoast Duplicate Post after installed the plugin.

Step 8 – Open the ‘What to Copy’ page.

Step 9 – When duplicating the content, select the fields (Title, date, status, excerpt, etc.) you want to clone from the ‘Post/page elements to copy’ field.

You can also make some settings (Title prefix, title suffix, menu order, do not copy fields, do not copy taxonomies) about content duplication from this page.

Step 10 – Open the ‘Permissions’ page.

Step 11 – When duplicating the content, select the post types you want to use from the ‘Enable for these post types’ field.

Step 12 – Open the ‘Display’ page.

Step 13 – Finally, check other settings about Yoasy Duplicate Post plugin. It’s ready!

Step 14 – Go to the post type you want to post clone.

Step 15 – Hover over the content you want to clone, click the ‘Clone’ or ‘Rewrite & Republish’.

Also, if you want to duplicate more than one page, you can select the posts you want to duplicate and duplicate the posts from the ‘Bulk Actions’ section.
