How to Create a Table of Contents

Step 1 – Navigate to the Wiki Contents > Add New Wiki Content from the WordPress dashboard.

Step 2 – You will see a standard WordPress editor and post creation screen.

Step 3 – You can add a title and description to the Content. The expected controls for saving it as a draft or publishing it are present.

Step 4 – Now scroll a little to the bottom of the page and you will see the Wiki Content Details section. This area contains the wiki content details and the wiki content management controllers. Now click to Table of Content section.

Step 5 – Follow these steps to customize the appearance and placement of your table of content:

• The visibility of the Table of Content can be set in the first section.
• The type of table of contents can be selected in the Type of Table of Contents section.
• The style can be adjusted using the Table of Contents Style option.
• The table’s position can be defined through the Position of Table of Contents section.

Step 6 – When the type of table of contents is set to Default or Auto Selected, it is automatically generated from H1 to H6 titles. If set to Manual, the Table of Contents section activates at the bottom of the page, allowing you to add new entries by clicking the Add More button.

Step 7 – When you click the Add New button or any item in the list, a section will open to allow you to edit the list item:

• Title: Add the item’s title.
• ID: Add an ID to the title to enable redirection to that section.
• Sub Items: This section can be used to add subheadings if available.

Assigning IDs for Redirection:

• Identify the Target Element: Choose the heading or item within your content that you want to redirect to.
• Click the Element: Click on the heading or item to which you want to assign an ID.
• Assign the ID Manually: In the settings or editor, manually assign a unique ID to the selected element.
• Link to the ID: Use the ID in your links to enable redirection to the specified section.

Step 8 – Now that everything is ready, you can press the ‘Publish’ button to publish your Wiki Content.
