Featured Posts Setting for Taxonomies

Step 1 – Navigate to Appearance > Customize from your WordPress dashboard.


Step 2 – Go to Extra > Taxonomies in the customization menu.


Step 3 – Enable the Featured Posts to activate the Taxonomies.


Step 4 – Configure the following options for Featured Posts:

  • Featured Posts Switcher: Use the toggle to enable or disable the Featured Posts functionality.
  • Featured Posts Type: Choose which type of content to display in the Featured Posts section. Options include:
    • Latest Posts: Displays the most recently published posts.
    • Trending: Highlights posts that are currently trending based on specific metrics like popularity or shares.
    • Popular by Comments: Features posts with the highest number of comments.
    • Popular by Views: Displays posts with the most views.
    • Random: Randomly selects posts to display in the section.
  • Featured Posts Meta Fields: Select the meta details you want to display for each post in the Featured Posts section:
    • Title: Show the post title to highlight the content.
    • Image: Display the post’s featured image for visual appeal.
    • Date: Include the publication date of the post.
    • Category: Show the category name associated with the post.
    • Excerpt: Add a short summary or preview of the post content.
    • Author: Display the name of the post’s author.
    • Author Avatar: Include the author’s profile image.
    • Comments: Show the number of comments the post has received.
    • Reading Time: Display an estimated reading time for the post.
    • Read More Button: Add a clickable button that links to the full post.
  • Featured Posts Date Type: Choose how dates are displayed:
    • Date Time: Uses the default date format (e.g., “November 20, 2024”).
    • Human Time: Displays time in a relative format (e.g., “23 seconds ago”).
  • Exclude Featured Posts from Query: Prevents featured posts from appearing in the main post query, ensuring they are displayed only in the Featured Posts section.
  • Subtitle: Add a subtitle to describe the content or purpose of the Featured Posts section.
  • Description: Provide additional context or instructions for the Featured Posts section.
  • Total Count: Set the number of posts to display in the Featured Posts section.
  • Set Category Color as Background: Use the category color as the background for each featured post to visually differentiate categories.
