How to Configure the Search Form

The Search Form adds a product search field directly to the header, allowing users to quickly find products.

You can configure its settings from:

Appearance → Customize → Header → Search Form

General Settings #

  • Placeholder Text – Text displayed inside the search input field.
  • Keep Keyword – If enabled, the search field will retain the previously searched keyword on the results page.

Category Filter #

  • Category Filter – Enable or disable category selection in the search form.
  • Show Children Categories – Include subcategories in the filter.
  • Show Empty Categories – Show categories with no products.
  • Include Categories – Select specific categories to include.
  • Exclude Categories – Select categories to exclude.
  • Order By – Define category sorting method.
  • Order Type – Ascending or descending order.
  • Category Count – Number of categories to display.

Previous Searches #

  • Previous Searches – Enable or disable storing user’s past searches.
  • Previous Searches Title – Section title.
  • Previous Searches Count – Number of previous searches to display.
  • Popular Searches – Enable or disable popular keyword suggestions.
  • Popular Searches Title – Section title.
  • Highlight First Popular Search – If enabled, the first keyword will appear highlighted.
  • Popular Searches Keywords – Add keywords using repeater items.

These keywords will appear as clickable suggestions inside the search form.

After configuring these settings, you need to enable the Search Form in the header:

Appearance → Customize → Header → Header General

  • Search Form – Enable this option to display the search field in the header.

Tip: Using category filters and popular searches can significantly improve product discovery and user experience.
