Step 1 – Navigate to the Recipes > Add New from the WordPress dashboard.
Step 2 – You will see a standard WordPress editor and post creation screen.
Step 3 – You can add a title and description to the recipe. The expected controls for saving it as a draft or publishing it are present.
Step 4 – Just like regular WordPress posts you can use taxonomies.
- Categories: You can select/create categories that describe the type of the recipe.
- Cuisines: You can select/create the cuisines for the recipe.
- Ingredients: You can select/create the ingredients for the recipe.
- Servings: You can select/create the servings for the recipe.
- Difficulties: You can select/create the difficulties for the recipe.
- Cooking Times: You can select/create the cooking times for the recipe.
- Preparation Times: You can select/create the preparation times for the recipe.
- Tags: You can select/create the tags for the recipe.
Step 5 – Upload a featured image from the ‘Featured Image’ field. Also, you can define a excerpt from the ‘Excerpt’ field.
Step 6 – Now scroll a little to the bottom of the page and you will see the recipe settings section. This area contains the recipe settings and the recipe management controllers. This area is divided into sections for easier use.
- Ingredients: In this section, contain ingredients for the recipe.
- Nutritions: In this section, contain nutritions for the recipe.
- Directions: In this section, contain directions for the recipe.
- Media: In this section, contain photo gallery and video guide for the recipe.
Step 7 – Currently, the recipe is ready to be published, but you can turn the recipe into a higher quality content by filling out the other fields. Below I will explain in detail what all the fields do, so that you can fill them in easily. You can also check out the demo of Bouffe, it might give you a good idea.
- Ingredients:
- Ingredients Status: You can choose status of the ingredients.
- Ingredients Style: You can choose a style for the ingredients.
- Ingredients: You can create ingredient list from this panel.
- Description: If you need a description text for the ingredients, you can enter it in this field.
- Nutritions:
- Nutritions Status: You can choose status of the nutritions.
- Nutritions Style: You can choose a style for the nutritions.
- Nutritions: You can create nutrition list from this panel.
- Description: If you need a description text for the nutritions, you can enter it in this field.
- Directions:
- Directions Status: You can choose status of the directions.
- Directions Style: You can choose a style for the directions.
- Directions: You can create direction list from this panel.
- Description: If you need a description text for the directions, you can enter it in this field.
- Media:
- Images Status: You can choose status of the images.
- Images: You can upload images for the image gallery.
- Video Status: You can choose status of the video.
- Video: You can enter a video URL for the recipe.
For all areas where you select the ‘Default’ option, the selection in the theme settings will be used automatically.
With these features, you can visualize your venue and better promote your content.
Step 8 – Now that everything is ready, you can press the ‘Publish’ button to publish your content.
